May Chinese

This was such a fabulous find, just 15 minutes from us in Harlow. The food, the ambience, okay he authenticity and flavour of the food, all of it was spectacular. I must commend their service as well because we were in a rush to leave. Even the Chinese cracker tasted good. And the winning dish was Malaysian fried rice! We are definitely returning again soon with the rest of the family.

Lovely little restaurant located just as you come into the highstreet by traffic lights. Very efficient staff and very polite. Only small so reservation recommended.

Just picked up an order, I’m new to the area and very pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant is! The team were all so friendly, food was ready when stated for pick up and it was absolutely delicious!! I had the veg spring rolls, hot and sour soup, chicken in black bean sauce and a side of seaweed and egg fried rice (yes I’m a piglet). 100% will be returning and thought those looking for a Chinese should definitely try it out. Highlight for me was the hot and sour soup, best one I’ve had in years!! Keep up the good work May and thank you for my order

Love this place, great service and lovely staff. The restaurant is not huge but has a wonderful atmosphere. Food was delicious, a bit salty but acceptable.

First and foremost this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. It usually takes multiple times to get the phone to ring, as during peak times their phone line is busy dealing with call after call. Do not be deterred, there is a genuine reason for this, and that is that this restaurant is brilliant. Delivery is within the CM16 radius and usually takes an hour and a half. Yes the price is quite expensive but it is the best food in the area and is always fresh. Usually after eating Chinese I feel rough but not here. Unfortunately we moved to Abridge and now have to collect, we even tried most Chinese restaurants this past year and honestly nothing even competes. We ordered Chigwell Chinese and it was delivered 15 minutes later and tasted like it was cooked in old fat and was just greasy. Then you kick yourself because you remember the good times in Theydon ordering May Chinese. The only Chinese restaurant that is as good and remotely close is in Romford and that is Blue Orchid.

What a wonderful little restaurant in the heart of Epping! First visit here today as we just moved to the area and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s such a small intimate restaurant with incredible service - special mention to our wonderful waiter, Kin! He was delightful, with excellent knowledge of 80’s music! We had the crackers and chilli sauce & Crispy Aromatic Duck with Pancakes to start and Szechuan chicken with special fried rice for main course. That was plenty for 2 people and was absolutely delicious. The selection of beers and wine were fantastic. And we had a great time. Really great service, the atmosphere was busy without being overbearing, considering how small it is and the food cooked perfectly. Quite possibly the nicest Chinese food we have had in a very long time. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you and see you again soon! Andy & Amanda x
